
Bio
Tracy Thomas, MA, LMFT, is a Black Native Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a deep commitment to community wellness, cultural healing, and trauma recovery. Raised in California, her ancestral roots are Louisiana Choctaw. She currently serves as a CAN Community Counselor at UC Davis Student Health and Counseling Services, where she partnered with the Native American Academic Success Center for nearly a decade. Tracy has provided compassionate support to Indigenous students, families, and tribal communities through individual, group, couples, and family counseling, as well as outreach and mental health workshops.
Tracy earned her B.A. in Communication Studies from UCLA and her M.A. in Psychology from Brandman University. She has worked in nonprofit community health centers throughout the Sacramento region, delivering culturally responsive mental health care to marginalized, underrepresented, and underserved communities.
Her therapeutic approach is person-centered and humanistic, supporting students through academic stress, burnout, identity development, relational challenges, and issues related to social and restorative justice. Tracy is EMDRIA-certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which she uses as a primary modality to help clients heal from trauma and reclaim their sense of self.
